AT&T
Local 7777 still
represents a few remaining AT&T clerical employees in what, at one
time, was a large business unit at AT&T. With the merger of AT&T into SBC, we are facing challenging times because our members’ jobs are at stake. AT&T has just announced another large surplus of employees, while their CEO Dorman has made sure he is protected when the company disappears. From the “Widows and Orphans Stock” that AT&T used to be, it has become a nonexistent company. The mismanagement that caused its disappearance is squarely the result of the selfish Board of Directors. The slogan, “We built it, they broke it!” fits perfectly.
