CWA Members Ratify New Contract at Qwest

Denver – Members of the Communications Workers of America at Qwest Communications have ratified a new, three-year agreement by a 66 percent vote.

<>CWA District 7 Vice President Annie Hill said the settlement acknowledges the value that CWA members add to Qwest’s operations, and that workers and management are committed to moving forward to rebuild Qwest and maintain longterm employment and stability for workers.

The settlement provides a wage increase of 7.5 percent over the contract term and continues employer-paid health care, with some changes to the out-of-pocket cost structure. It also continues the current 8-hour limit on mandatory overtime per week, enabling workers to balance their work and family lives, among other improvements.

CWA represents 25,000 Qwest workers in 13 states: Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
