SBC
    by Chris Tone

I have been asked to let you know what is going on with SBC in Denver.  It is a soap opera.

Recently, we were told that our group was doing great, and that all numbers were looking good for future plans. Which is good, since some of our larger contracts have been delayed.

While we are hearing great things about our growth and stable future, support people around us are getting pink slips.  Project engineers, maintenance engineers, Colorado engineers, human resources, dispatch, computer support, LFO management, and more.  But hey, this has nothing to do with the purchase of AT&T.

Next to me sits an engineer that works all of our future growth projects, and he was just informed last week that he now works for a different group.  All of his projects are sitting on the back burner with no place to go, and the people that had the answer are no longer with the company.

When asked what is going on, it is business as usual.

Even with switch growth being canceled, new customers are still coming in.

There is much more to this saga, but with limited space and time, I can only give you a taste.
