Women’s Committee Report
On December 29thLisa and I had the opportunity to visit the Sacred Heart House of Denver. Sacred Heart House of Denver offers a variety of services to homeless mothers with children and single women to help them achieve and maintain self-sufficiency.
The In-House Stabilization Program provides temporary emergency housing, food, clothing, and transportation to meet the residents’ critical physical needs. With case management and referrals to resources within the community, they identify and begin solving problems that led to their homelessness.
Through the Follow-Up Program and the Transitional Housing Program, former residents receive continued support in their struggle to live independently and successfully.
With the help of the CWA National Women’s Committee, we were able to donate $350 to the organization. Garrett, the employee who gave us a tour of the facility and discussed the home’s history and future goals with us provided a list of items needed at all times by Sacred Heart House of Denver. That list is attached and if any member of our local would like to donate any of these items, money or volunteer time to support the Sacred Heart House of Denver and the women and children it supports, please contact me.
